Privacy policy

This policy explains how Vyb Social Ltd collects and uses personal data when you visit vybhq.com or join the Vyb waitlist. The Vyb app will have its own privacy policy when it launches.

Who we are

Vyb Social Ltd (“Vyb”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal data described here. We’re a private limited company registered in England & Wales, company no. 17398192, with our registered office at Flat 35, The Fanshawe, Gale Street, Dagenham RM9 4UT, United Kingdom.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist:

• your email address;
• your university, if you choose to give it;
• how you found us — for example a src tag in the link you followed — and, if a friend referred you, their referral code;
• your place on the waitlist and your own referral link.

When you visit the site, our analytics records:

• a random visitor ID and session ID, stored in your browser;
• the pages you view, the site that referred you, and any campaign (UTM) tags in the link;
• your screen size and browser language;
• how far you scroll and how long you spend on a page.

Like any website, the services that deliver our pages also receive your IP address and basic browser information as part of each request.

We don’t ask for your name, location, payment details or anything else on this site.

How we use it

• To run the waitlist and email you when Vyb launches — based on your consent, which you give by signing up and can withdraw at any time.
• To understand how people find and use the site, so we can improve it and see which channels work — based on our legitimate interests in running and growing Vyb. This data isn’t used to identify you or to advertise to you.

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with advertisers.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

• GetWaitlist — stores waitlist sign-ups and manages referrals;
• our analytics service, hosted on Convex — stores the site analytics described above;
• GitHub Pages — hosts this website;
• Google Fonts — serves the fonts this site uses, which means your browser connects to Google;
• Fasthosts — hosts our email, if you write to us.

Some of these providers may store or process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law allows, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it.

Browser storage

This site doesn’t set cookies. It does use your browser’s local storage for:

• vyb-theme — remembers whether you picked light or dark mode;
• am_vid, am_sid, am_st — the analytics visitor ID, session ID and session start time.

You can clear these at any time through your browser’s settings (usually under “site data”). The analytics will create a new random ID on your next visit.

How long we keep it

• Waitlist data — until Vyb launches and for up to 12 months after, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. If you create an account in the app, the app’s privacy policy applies from then on.
• Analytics data — up to 24 months.
• Emails you send us — as long as needed to deal with your message.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
• ask us to correct it or delete it;
• object to or restrict how we use it;
• ask us to transfer it to you or someone else in a common format;
• withdraw your consent at any time — for example, by leaving the waitlist.

To do any of these, email hello@vybhq.com. We’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We’d appreciate the chance to sort it out with you first.

Age

Vyb is about nightlife and is for people aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think someone under 18 has joined the waitlist, let us know and we’ll delete their details.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change significantly affects how we use your data, we’ll email people on the waitlist first.
